MBPOA
Members along with family and friends celebrated summer once again with
the 35th annual MBPOA Beach Party on Saturday, August 6th,
2011. The party featured lots of yummy stuff to eat
and drink, games for the kids, raffle prizes and great music. We had brilliant
sunshine with perfect temperatures in the low 80s. In fact, this year, the turnout was the largest we have seen.
The steel drum music created an overall festive atmosphere from
beginning to end. The games for the kids included the water relay,
tug-of-war, egg toss and, of course, the sand castle contest.
Additionally, the face painting for the kids was extremely creative, and
enjoyed by all.
The
Kitchen Crew served 350 ears of corn, 700 hot dogs, 60 chickens from
Herb's Market, pulled pork sandwiches, chips, tons of soda, watermelon
and cookies. It was a hungry crowd this year and we ended up cooking
every last item we had - so apologies to anyone who got there late
and ended up with cookies and watermelon.
We wish to thank Joan Stikeman and Bob
Shurman Co-Chairs along with their team of volunteers who helped to
make it happen. It's a big job and everyone pulled together to make it
the successful event that it was. Bravo everyone! We wish to thank everyone who contributed raffle, food and other
items,
helped with setup and stayed around to help with the clean-up after the
event. We feel that the success of these parties is a direct
reflection of our wonderful and active organization.
General Membership meeting held on Saturday May 29, 2010 at the Montauk Fire House
MBPOA Membership kicked off the 2010 summer season with the General
Membership Meeting held at the Montauk Fire House on Edgemere Street.
The meeting was well attended by the Membership. One of the guest
speakers was East Hampton Town Supervisor and MBPOA Member Bill
Wilkinson. He mentioned plans to host a meeting in the next few weeks
to gather information
related to the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico and whether it will have
any impact on the East End’s shores. Additionally, the various Board
Memebers provided updates and information on scheduled beach cleanup
dates, finances and plans for the August beach party. Members had an
opportunity to ask questions and get information first hand from our
elected and appointed officials. These meetings are a
great way to catch up on what's happening in our Association, Montauk
and East Hampton Town. We generally have several local officials
presenting the status on a variety of topics. Make plans to attend the
2011 and
meet the Board and other MBPOA members - coffee is provided. You will
also have the opportunity to purchase various MBPOA logo beach items.
See you there!
